MARINE Fund Cymru operates with a clear ethical approach and strong governance.
The Fund accepts voluntary contributions from businesses, organisations and individuals whose activities are compatible with its purpose and values.
MARINE Fund Cymru operates under its own Ethical Contributions Policy and applies a clear, two-tier decision process to all contributions. Proportionate due diligence is carried out on prospective donors, with findings set out in a short report that is reviewed by the Fund’s Steering Group, which makes a recommendation. Final decisions are then taken by WCVA’s Governance and Ethics Committee.
This approach ensures decisions are consistent, independent and well documented, giving confidence that the Fund is managed responsibly and in line with its purpose.
When grant rounds open, a separate Grants Making Panel, composed of marine experts, will review applications and decide which projects receive funding. This approach provides confidence to donors, partners and the wider public that investment is handled responsibly and directed towards projects that deliver genuine benefit for Wales’s marine and coastal environment.
