The Fund is an initiative of the Wales Coasts and Seas Partnership (CaSP Cymru), which brings together government, regulators, industry, the voluntary sector and academia to progress shared priorities for the marine environment.
WCVA was appointed by CaSP Cymru to manage the Fund, providing the governance, financial management and grant-making expertise needed to operate it independently and to a high standard.
MARINE Fund Cymru is overseen by a Steering Group with representatives from Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales, The Crown Estate, WCVA and CaSP Cymru members, including industry and environmental NGOs. This structure ensures funding decisions are transparent, credible and aligned with Wales’s marine priorities.
The Fund is being developed with inspiration from the successful model of the Scottish Marine Environmental Enhancement Fund (SMEEF). We’re grateful for the insight and guidance shared by the SMEEF team, which is helping us shape a fund that reflects the specific needs and priorities of Wales.
